On Friday 4th May 2012 Cub groups from all over the district joined together for our first District Cub Camp weekend. We had a bit of a panic before hand due to the site that we were staying at was water logged but luckily Blackwell adventure had space at their Pikes Pool site.
The first night was a bit of an ice breaker where the cubs played some wide games and got to know other cubs from all round the district.
After a cold night in the tent the cubs were up and ready for the activities on site. These ranged from back woods cooking, tracking, clay models, scene plays, orienteering, fire building, and a water slide. After all these activities we rounded the day off with some camp fire songs and the scenes the cubs practised earlier in the day.
After breakfast the cubs were ready to go again so before we knew there we were on the the coach and off to the transport museum where the cubs got the chance to see loads of different types of transport from old to new.
When we got back from the museum it was all hands on deck to clear up the site. After everything was packed away the cubs finished the camp with a presentation where they all got a certificate and a little souvenir to say they’ve been on camp.
So all in all the cubs were busy and had a great time some even asked when is the next one.
