Beyond the Gate

Beyond the Gate – 1st Solihull Scout Group’s Open Day

Saturday 9th July 2016 12pm – 4pm

Fun Day Poster

At 1pm the Pond Dipping Platform will be officially declared open by the Mayor, Mike Robinson, who will also kindly award the prizes for the Design Competition along with our Scouting County Commissioner, Shirley Brookes.

What’s on?

  • Face painting
  • BBQ, tuck shop, soft drinks, tea & coffee and cakes
  • Treasure Map – find the buried treasure and win tickets to Cotswold Wildlife Park or Trentham Monkey Sanctuary
  • The ever-popular tombola stalls for both adults and children
  • Test your competitive streak at archery
  • Grand Prize Draw – fantastic prizes kindly donated by local businesses. Enter to win some fantastic prizes including the first prize of 4 standard class tickets for Virgin Trains anywhere on their network – you could visit Edinburgh Castle or go to see the Queen in London. Other prizes include a luxury hamper, kettle drum BBQ, family portrait with framed 10 x 8 print from The Studio@Theo Georgio, ice skating tickets and many more.

In addition to the activities that are open for the duration of the event we also have the following timed sessions:
12.15pm, 1.15pm, 2.15pm, 3.15pm – Den Building Sessions
12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm – Guided Tour of the Site
1pm – Official Opening of the Pond Dipping Platform
1.30pm onwards – Pond Dipping
2pm – Tent Pitching Competition
2.30pm – Open Mic for any budding performers
3pm – Story Telling / Sing Song round the Campfire with Ian Carnell
3.30pm – Prize Draw

Family Fun Day – Saturday 9th July 2016

We are holding our first Family Fun Day on Saturday 9th July to open up our site to the local community. This will be both a fundraiser as well as our chance to let people see our new pond dipping platform and the woods. We are hoping to make this event unique to our site so get your thinking caps on!
If you would like to join in organising this event then please do get in touch. We will also need a number of people to help on the day so please reserve this date in your diary now.

Bonfire and Fireworks Night 2015

This year’s Bonfire and Fireworks Night is on Thursday 5th November 2015.

Adults £4 and children £2. No sparklers or pets allowed. Gates open at 6pm. The bonfire will be lit at around 7pm and the fireworks will start at 7:15pm.

There will be a barbecue, hot and cold drinks, candy floss, sweets and light sticks for sale. It’s always a popular event and will be great fun for the family. See you there!
