A huge THANK YOU to the Freemasons from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire for their generous donation towards the projects we hope to achieve this year. They have given us £1,000 for which we are extremely grateful.
The money will be put towards the list of projects we are hoping to carry out this year including electrical work, tarmacking the rear driveway to create extra car parking spaces and the drawing up of the plans for the Air Rifle and Archery Range that we are hoping to get built (fund raising dependent).
We have a Maintenance Day on Sunday 12th March 2017, 9am – 4pm.
There are trees to plant, painting to do, bark to lay, tidying up of the woods following the storms, just to mention a few of the jobs. Come and join us with your children if you can. Even an hour would help. We look forward to seeing you then. Thanks!
On Saturday 21st February a team of enthusiastic and energetic volunteers from Jaguar Land Rover came to the Millpool, complete with a generous donation of some great tools and equipment, to carry out a number of maintenance tasks for us. The team were joined by other volunteers and parents from 1st Solihull Scout Group, including an electrician and a team who worked on the roof.
The teams were kept fuelled up during the day with bacon and sausage sandwiches, tea and coffee, and plenty of fresh air. Everyone worked really hard, made great progress and achieved all the planned tasks and more.
Many thanks to Keith Bonser, his JLR colleagues and the 1st Solihull volunteers for all their hard work and commitment. Based on this success we’re hoping to arrange more of these days in the future.
